DPIIT & South Korea’s Transport Institute Signs Pact for Logistics & Infrastructure Growth
- India and South Korea have taken a significant step towards strengthening their logistics and infrastructure collaboration. On February 10, 2025, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, and the Korea Transport Institute (KOTI), Republic of Korea, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Sejong National Research Complex in South Korea.

India’s first Automated Biomedical Waste Treatment Plant
- Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated India’s first Indigenous Automated Biomedical Waste Treatment Plant at AIIMS New Delhi. The plant, named “Sṛjanam,” was developed by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST).
Reliance Unveils ‘Spinner’ Sports Drink with Muralitharan
- Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Industries, has entered the sports hydration drink segment with its new brand, Spinner. Co-created with Sri Lankan cricket legend Muttiah Muralitharan, Spinner aims to provide an affordable and effective hydration solution.

Inaugural Olympic Esports Games to be held in 2027 in Saudi Arabia
- The first Olympic Esports Games will be held in two years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the International Olympic Committee said, as part of a 12-year-deal with the country signed (2024) last year.
- The IOC has been looking into Esports for several years, forming a dedicated commission to find opportunities to tap into a younger generation involved with gaming.
India dominated the 2025 Para Archery Asia Cup with 6 gold medals
- India ended their participation in the 2025 Para Archery Asia Cup in Thailand with six gold medals, finishing at the top of the medal table. On the final day of the competition today, India won six medals, including two golds. Sarita won the gold in the women’s compound open, beating Singapore’s Nur Syahidah Alim 143-142 in the final. Shyam Sundar Swami also won gold in the men’s compound open, defeating Indonesia’s Ken Swagumilang 143-141.

Maimun Alam was Appointed as Director of the Ministry of Steel
- Maimun Alam, a 2007-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, has been appointed as the Director of the Ministry of Steel under the Central Staffing Scheme. The Government of India approved her appointment based on the recommendation of the Department of Revenue. She will serve a tenure of five years or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
Dr. Madhavankutty G has been appointed by Canara Bank as chief economist
- Public Sector Lender, Canara Bank has announced the appointment of Madhavankutty G as the chief economist, effective January 2025. In his new role, Dr. Madhavankutty will be responsible for providing strategic advice and inputs to the top management on domestic and global economic and financial sector developments.

- Darwin Day is a celebration to commemorate the birthday of Charles Darwin on 12 February 1809. The day is used to highlight Darwin's contributions to science and to promote science in general. Darwin Day is celebrated around the world.
National Productivity Day
- National Productivity Day is celebrated on February 12th every year. It's a day to recognize the importance of productivity in India's development. The day is organized by the National Productivity Council (NPC), The celebration of National Productivity Day was started as an occasion to commemorate the registration and origin of the National Productivity Council, It was established in 1958.

World Government Summit 2025 Opens in Dubai
- The World Government Summit (WGS) 2025 opened on Tuesday (February 11) in Dubai under the theme Shaping Future Governments, attracting record international participation. Running until February 14, the 12th edition of the summit brings together heads of state, government officials, global institutions, and leading experts to explore emerging trends in governance and critical sectors.
- India’s Union Minister of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, participated in key sessions, including the High-Level Roundtable on the Future of Mobility and the XDGs 2045 Ministerial Roundtable.
