India & Nicaragua sign agreements to implement Quick Impact Projects

  • India and Nicaragua signed an umbrella agreement to implement Quick Impact Projects (QIPs). The agreement was signed by the Indian Ambassador to Panama, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica, Sumit Seth, and Nicaragua's Foreign Minister, Valdrack Jaentschke, in the capital city of Managua.

National Maritime Heritage Complex to come up in Gujarat

Reliance NU Suntech wins India's largest solar and battery storage project

  • Reliance NU Suntech, a subsidiary of Reliance Power, has secured India’s largest solar energy and battery energy storage system (BESS) project at 930 MW (megawatts) from the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), The project was secured through SECI’s Tranche XVII e-reverse auction held on December 9, 2024, at a winning tariff of Rs 3.53 ($0.0416) per kWh (kilowatt-hour).

FIFA World Cup Hosts Unveiled for 2030, 2034

  • FIFA has officially announced the hosts for the 2030 and 2034 Men’s Football World Cups. Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will jointly host the 2030 tournament, with additional matches in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay to commemorate the centenary of the competition. Saudi Arabia has been chosen to host the 2034 tournament.

AMUL's MD Jayen Mehta gets a tenure extension for 5 years

  • Jayen Mehta, who leads the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), an apex body of milk cooperatives which markets dairy products under AMUL, as managing director, has been granted a five-year extension to his current role, His tenure has been extended till 2029-2030.

  • International Health Coverage Day or Universal Health Coverage Day is celebrated annually on December 12 and is promoted by the World Health Organization.
  • December 12 is the anniversary of the first unanimous United Nations resolution calling for all nations to provide for their citizens affordable, quality health care.

Gujarat government signed an MoU with Thailand for the conservation and promotion of Buddhist heritage sites

  • Gujarat and Thailand agreed to cooperate in the Conservation, Promotion, and Development of Buddhist Tangible and Intangible Heritage in Gujarat for this an MOU was also signed between Gujarat Tourism and Thailand’s Bodh Gaya Vijayalaya-980 Institute.

  • Veteran Indian ecologist Madhav Gadgil has been chosen as one of the six persons/institutions to be honoured with the prestigious 2024 United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) ‘Champions of the Earth’ award.

  • Ang Lee, the celebrated Taiwanese American filmmaker, has been named the recipient of the Directors Guild of America (DGA) 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award. This prestigious honor recognizes Lee’s remarkable contributions to cinema, spanning over three decades.

Bhopal Sets Guinness World Record

  • Gita Jayanti was celebrated across India with grand events, marking significant milestones in religious and cultural history. Bhopal achieved a remarkable milestone on Gita Jayanti as over 5,000 Acharyas collectively recited 'Shlokas' or verses from the third chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, 'Karma Yog', creating a new Guinness World record.
  • In Haryana's Kurukshetra, Gita Jayanti celebrations witnessed a global resonance. At the newly renamed Keshav Park, 18,000 children chanted Gita verses, joined by approximately 1.5 crore people worldwide via an online platform.
