- IIT Guwahati, in association with the Assam government, hosted a groundbreaking symposium through the Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute (AAHII).
- It will bring together esteemed doctors and scientists to explore cutting-edge healthcare technologies, this event emphasises the government's dedication to strengthening India's healthcare ecosystem through advanced, self-reliant innovations, the Government of Assam and IIT Guwahati are collaborating on a state-of-the-art AAHII campus to reduce import dependency on health care.

Squash: Anahat Singh clinches women’s singles title at New South Wales Open
- In Squash, India’s Anahat Singh has clinched the women’s singles title at the New South Wales (NSW) Open in Sydney, Australia, this morning. She defeated Helen Tang of Hong Kong 3-1 in the summit clash. Anahat started with a setback, losing the first set 8-11 to Tang. However, she made a strong comeback, winning the next three sets 11-6, 11-3, and 11-4 to seal the victory. This marks Anahat’s seventh PSA Challenger Tour title of her career.
Table Tennis: Syndrela Das clinches U-15 Girl’s Singles title at WTT Youth Contender in Italy
- In Table Tennis, India’s Syndrela Das has clinched the Under 15 Girl’s Singles title at the WTT Youth Contender in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy. She defeated compatriot Divyanshi Bhowmick, 3-2, in an all-India final last night. Divyanshi was leading by 2-1 after the third set. However, Syndrela held her nerves and won the remaining two sets to claim the title. In the semifinals, Syndrela edged past another Indian paddler, Hansini Mathan, with a 3-2 victory. While Divyanshi advanced to the final by defeating compatriot Riana Bhoota 3-1.
Indian athletes bag three bronze medals at the Senior Asian Judo Open in Hong Kong
- In Judo, Indian athletes have won three bronze medals at the Senior Asian Judo Open in Hong Kong. In the women’s 48 kg category, India’s Angel Yadav triumphed over Lau Wan Lok of the host country. The Indian judoka secured the victory with an ippon, earning her a spot on the podium. In the men’s 60 kg category, India’s Jatin defeated Habib Hasan of Kuwait to claim bronze. While Sourabh won his bronze in the men’s 73 kg event, beating Bilegt Erdenetsogt of the USA.
Coco Gauff of the US wins the 2024 WTA Finals
- World No. 3 Coco Gauff of the United States won her first WTA (Women Tennis Association) Finals by beating world number 7 Zheng Qinwen of China 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(2) in a 3-hour and 4-minute final.

Iconic Sarangi maestro Pandit Ram Narayan passes away in Mumbai
- Pandit Ram Narayan, the iconic Sarangi maestro, passed away in Mumbai at the age of 96. Mr. Narayan, a distinguished Hindustani musician was honoured with several prestigious awards, including the Padma Vibhushan and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Following the news of his demise, tributes from across the country, including Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan poured in.
