Israel's Tower Semiconductor, Adani plan $10 bln chip project in India

  • Israel’s Tower Semiconductor and India’s Adani Group are set to invest 839.47 billion rupees ($10 billion) in a semiconductor manufacturing project in Maharashtra. The semiconductor plant in Maharashtra will initially produce 40,000 wafers. 

India and UAE signed Agreement on nuclear energy, petroleum

  • During the official visit of Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, India and the UAE signed several significant Memoranda of Understandings (Agreement), paving the way for cooperation between the two nations in sectors like nuclear energy and petroleum. 

India-US joint military exercise 'Yudh Abhyas 2024' begins in Rajasthan

  • The 20th edition of the India-USA Joint Military Exercise, Yudh Abhyas 2024, commenced at the Foreign Training Node in the Mahajan Field Firing Ranges, Rajasthan. This year's exercise will take place from September 9 to 22. Since its inception in 2004, Exercise Yudh Abhyas has been held annually, alternating between India and the United States.

MoD signs Rs 26,000 crores deal with HAL for Su-30MKI fighter jet engines

  • Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to supply 240 AL-31FP engines for Su-30MKI fighter jets. The contract, worth over Rs 26,000 crore, was signed on September 9, in New Delhi. Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane and Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff, were present at the signing. 

Telangana signs MoU for World Trade Centre at AI City

  • The government of Telangana has taken a significant step towards establishing itself as a global AI hub by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Trade Centres’ Association for the creation of a World Trade Centre (WTC) within the proposed AI City near Hyderabad, The planned WTC at AI City is set to become a cornerstone of Telangana's technological ambitions.

Vinay Goyal Appointed as State Mission Director of NHM

  • Vinay Goyal has officially assumed the role of State Mission Director for the National Health Mission (NHM). He succeeds K. Jeevan Babu, who has moved to the Kerala Water Authority as Managing Director. Dr. Goyal, an IAS officer of the 2016 batch, also takes charge as Director of the Kerala State IT Mission and Project Director at eHealth Kerala. 

Shri Arun Goel appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Republic of Croatia

  • Arun Goel has been appointed as India’s next Ambassador to Croatia, succeeding Raj Kumar Srivastava. Goel, a retired 1985-batch IAS officer from the Punjab cadre, previously served as the Election Commissioner of India from November 21, 2022, to March 9, 2024.

India to host 2nd Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation

  • India is set to host the 2nd Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation, Scheduled to take place from September 11-12, 2024, at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, the conference is co-hosted by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. 

Prime Minister Modi to inaugurate SEMICON India 2024 in Greater Noida

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate SEMICON India 2024 on September 11 at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The event, scheduled for 10:30 AM, will also feature an address from the Prime Minister.

RBL Bank Partners with IndianOil for New Credit Card

  • Private sector lender RBL Bank has launched a new credit card in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation, named ‘Xtra Credit Card,‘ as part of its strategy to moderately grow its credit card portfolio and enhance customer engagement.
