India Gifts 2 water-jet-propelled FICs to Mozambique

  • India gifted two water-jet-propelled Fast Interceptor Crafts (FICs) to Mozambique as part of its capacity-building engagements with friendly foreign nations of the Indian Ocean Region. The FICs were transshipped from India by INS Gharial. The Defence Ministry said these water-jet-propelled boats have a top speed of 45 knots and a range of 200 nautical miles at 12 knots.

PV Sindhu Badminton Centre foundation stone laid in Visakhapatnam

  • The groundbreaking event of PV Sindhu Centre for Badminton and Sports Excellence was held on November 7, 2 acres of land in Visakhapatnam were allocated by the state government in June 2021 for this centre, this initiative has been started through a partnership with Greenko, this centre will stand as a testament to her vision of guiding future champions. 

The 83rd annual session of the Indian Roads Congress is being held in Raipur

  • The 83rd annual session of the Indian Roads Congress is being held in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, inaugurated the convention. This four-day event will conclude on November 11.

  • Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Harsh Malhotra, along with BJP MPs Manoj Tiwari and Bansuri Swaraj, flagged off the ‘Run for Inclusion’ marathon in New Delhi. The event was organized by Special Olympics Bharat (SOB), the National Sports Federation promoting sports for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). 

India inks agreement to establish BIMSTEC Energy Centre in Bengaluru

  • Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Secretary (East) Jaideep Mazumder and BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Secretary General Indramani Pandey signed an agreement to establish the BIMSTEC Energy Centre in Karnataka's Bengaluru.

Pankaj Advani wins IBSF World Billiards Championship 150-up title

  • India’s Pankaj Advani has won the IBSF World Billiards Championship 150-up format title. He defeated England’s Robert Hall in the final clash of the tournament at Doha in Qatar. Pankaj had defeated his compatriot Sourav Kothari 4-2 in the semifinal yesterday. Sourav settled for the bronze medal.

  • GenWise has announced the launch of UPI payments on its app for senior citizens, this is the industry’s first-ever introduction of UPI for elders, offering a simple user interface, enhanced security, and cyber fraud awareness.

  • The FICCI National Executive Committee Meeting (NECM) has officially announced Harsha Vardhan Agarwal as the President-Elect of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), one of India’s leading industry bodies. Agarwal, who currently serves as the Senior Vice President of FICCI, is set to assume the role of President on November 21, 2024.
