Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo becomes Prime Minister of Burkina Faso

• Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouedraogo, former communications minister and government spokesperson, has been named prime minister of Burkina Faso. 

Rajnath Singh Commission Navy's New Frigate 'INS Tushil' In Russia

• Rajnath Singh, along with Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, and other top Defence and civilian officials from India and Russia, commissioned the warship, an upgraded Krivak III Class frigate under Project 1135.6., at the Yantra Shipyard in Kaliningrad.

Tamil Nadu launched the “Kalaignar handicrafts scheme” to empower artisans and craftsmen

• The Tamil Nadu government has announced the Kalaignar handicrafts scheme to support artisans and craftsmen in the state. The scheme is a counter to Centre’s Prime Minister Vishwakarma scheme, which the state government believes is casteist and discriminatory. 

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launches LIC’s Bima Sakhi Yojana

• The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today launched the ‘Bima Sakhi Yojana’ of Life Insurance Corporation, in line with his commitment to women empowerment and financial inclusion, in Panipat, Haryana. During the occasion, he also laid the foundation stone of the Main campus of Maharana Pratap Horticultural University, Karnal.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rising Rajasthan Global Investment Summit 2024 and the Rajasthan Global Business Expo at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on 9 December 2024.

Aarti Kapil Becomes Youngest Indian to Beat a Grandmaster

• Nine-year-old Delhi boy Aarit Kapil has become the youngest Indian to beat a chess Grandmaster as he emerged victorious against Raset Ziatdinov of United States in the ninth and penultimate round of the KIIT International open tournament.

Union government Appoints Sanjay Malhotra as RBI Governor

• The Centre on Monday (December 9, 2024) announced the appointment of Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra as the 26th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, a day before incumbent Governor Shaktikanta Das’s six-year term comes to an end on Tuesday (December 10, 2024).

Abathsahayeswarar Temple & BJPCI Project bag UNESCO Heritage Award

• Two Indian heritage conservation projects—the Abathsahayeswarar Temple Conservation Project in Thukkatchi, Tamil Nadu, and the BJPCI Conservation Project of Mumbai, Maharashtra—have won UNESCO’s Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation 2024. These two heritage conservation projects were among eight from the Asia Pacific region that won the 2024 UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation. 

HSL Triumphs at 3rd PSU Transformation Awards 2024

• Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a leader in India's shipbuilding and ship repair industry, garnered two prestigious awards at the 3rd PSU Transformation Awards 2024. The event was held at Shangri-La, New Delhi, on December 5.

RBI unveils MuleHunter to prevent digital frauds

• The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has developed an AI/ML-based model called MuleHunter.ai to tackle the issue of mule accounts, which are used for financial fraud. These accounts help criminals launder money from cybercrimes. The model will use data from banks to identify fraud patterns more effectively.
