What is the CMAT exam?

CMAT full form: Common Management Admission Test

• The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a National Level Entrance Examination for admission to management programs in India.
• It is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) since 2019. Till 2018, the Test was conducted by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
• The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE - Approved Institutions / University Departments / Constituent Colleges / Affiliated Colleges.
• NTA will conduct the CMAT-2025. It will be a three-hour entrance exam in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. 
• CMAT 2025 will test the candidates’ ability in areas like Quantitative Technique and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

CMAT Exam Date 2025

The CMAT Exam for 2025 is scheduled to take place in the month of May 2025. The registration process began on March 29, 2025, and the last date to register is April 18, 2025. CMAT Exam Date 2025 Registration Process

CMAT 2025 exam date 2025 registration process has begun from March 29, 2025. This section provides detailed step-by-step information on the registration process for the CMAT Test 2023. 

• Candidates must apply for CMAT-2025 online. They can do so by accessing the official website.
• Only one application is to be submitted by a candidate. More than one application i.e. multiple Application Forms submitted by a candidate will be rejected.
• It is suggested that the candidate should keep the following ready before starting the filling of the Application Form.
  • Proper internet connectivity. 
  • The particulars of a valid Government ID proof. 
  • The Date of Birth (as mentioned in the Class X Board Certificate)
  • Govt Identity Details like Aadhaar Number (last 4 digits)/Election Card (EPIC No.)/Passport number/PAN Number/ Other valid Govt IDs. 
  • Educational/Qualification details
  • Scanned clear passport photograph in JPG/JPEG format (size between 10 kb–200 kb) 
  • Scanned clear signature in JPG/JPEG format (size between 4 kb–30 kb)
  • PwD certificate (file size: 50kb to 300kb), if applicable.
  • Bank account details for payment of fee.
  • A valid e-mail ID for important communications will be made on this e-mail ID.
  • A valid mobile number as important information via SMS will be sent to this number. 
  • A valid debit/credit card or Net banking account for ONLINE payment.

Step-by-step registration process:

Step 1: Apply for Online Registration using your Email ID and Mobile No.

Step 2: Fill in the Online Application Form and note down the system-generated Application Number.

Upload scanned images of:

(i) the recent photograph (file size 10Kb – 200Kb) either in colour or black & white with 80% face (without mask) visible including ears against a white background;

(ii) candidate’s signature (file size: 4kb - 30kb)

(iii) PwD certificate (file size: 50kb to 300kb), if applicable.

Step 3: Pay the fee using SBI and HDFC Bank Gateway through Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI and keep proof of fee paid.

CMAT Exam Eligibility Criteria

• The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
• Students in their final year of a Bachelor’s Degree can also apply for CMAT-2025. They must declare their results before admissions for the 2025-25 academic year.

CMAT Paper Pattern 2025

This section outlines the pattern for the CMAT Test 2025. It covers the test's duration, sections, question format, and the marking scheme. 

• The medium of the Question Paper shall be in English only.
• Each question carries 04 (four) marks.
• For each correct response, the candidate will get 04 (four) marks.
• For each incorrect response, 01 (one) mark will be deducted from the total score.
• Un-answered/un-attempted will be given no marks.

Admit Card

• The CMAT Admit Card is issued provisionally to the candidates.
• The candidate has to download the Admit Card from the NTA website. They must then appear for the exam at the given date, time and exam center as shown on their admit card.
• No candidate will be allowed to appear at the exam on a date and time other than the one on their Admit Card.
• In case candidates are unable to download Admit Cards from the website, they may approach the Help Line between 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
• The candidates are advised to read the instructions on the Admit Card. They should follow them during the examination.
• If the candidate's details or photo and signatures in the Admit Card and Confirmation Page don't match, the candidate should quickly go to the Help Line. It's open from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. In such cases, candidates would appear in the Examination with the already downloaded Admit Card. However, NTA will take the necessary action to correct the record later.

Result

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will provide the CMAT Score 2025. The result will be compiled based on the Final Answer Keys. No complaints about Answer Keys after the CMAT-2025 Result will be accepted. The candidates should download their Scorecards from the website: https://exams.nta.ac.in/CMAT/.

Rules for tie-breaking: -

• A National Merit Ranking (All India Rank) will be based on the score compared to the total score.
• Cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of last graduation examination. 
• Overall percentage marks of class 12. 
• Older in age
• Candidates with the same score would get the same Merit. The Merit number would be increased by the same amount. For example, if there are two candidates at Merit 2, the next candidate would not get Merit 3. Instead, they would get Merit 4.

Counselling and Seat Allotment Process

NTA has no role in counselling for admission to the Management Programmes. Candidates must apply to the desired CMAT-2025 participating institutions with their CMAT Score 2025. After that, it is crucial to stay informed about the CMAT exam date to ensure timely application submissions and to plan your preparation effectively for the upcoming process.

• Each institution will release its cut-off CMAT Scores.
• A candidate must meet the score to get into the institution.
• Once qualified, the candidate must follow that Institution's selection procedure.
• It may include Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).
• The final selection of the candidate will be based on the candidate’s performance in GD & PI.
