Tip 2: Avoid Writing Options in Blank Spaces

Solve 1-2 timed sectional tests to sharpen your speed and accuracy. 

Students have been advised to write their options in blank spaces on the answer sheet and mark them on the OMR sheet later. However, this practice is strongly discouraged. If the paper is short and easy, you will have enough time to mark the OMR sheet after each question. But if the paper turns out to be lengthy and difficult, you might run out of time. Therefore, marking the OMR sheet after every question is better to avoid unnecessary delays.

Tip 3: Carry a Pen with a Blank Nib

The Consortium’s instructions prohibit marking anything on the question paper during the exam. Practice accordingly. 

One of the challenges for many students is the underlining of passages, especially with some invigilators strictly monitoring the process. Carry a pen with a blank nib (without ink) to tackle this issue. While this is not the same as underlining with a pen, it can still give you the sensation of marking the text. Remember that some invigilators might not allow you to underline so that this trick can be a subtle workaround.

Tip 4: Don’t Ask the Invigilator for Permission to Underline

Speaking of invigilators, it’s crucial to understand that the rulebook binds them and is not supposed to permit you to underline. Asking them might only add to your stress. The best approach is to gauge the atmosphere at the center. It might be safe if others are underlining and there’s no intervention. However, keep your underlining minimal to avoid attracting attention.
