CUET UG Exam 2025: Expected Changes

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is expected to undergo significant changes in 2025 to enhance its effectiveness and accessibility. While the official announcement is awaited, several potential changes are being discussed.

The list of changes in discussion are:

1- CUET UG common counselling for a seamless admission process

  • Experts support the idea of a single platform for counselling to streamline the admission process.
  • The UGC has formed a committee with officials from five universities to contemplate the idea. The universities are the University of Hyderabad, Mizoram University, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), Kashmir University, and Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
  • The standard CUET counselling move is being discussed to provide a single window or portal for admissions.

2- Exam to be completely Online Again

  • The CUET UG exam has been shifted from online to hybrid mode, but NTA observed cases of paper leaks in NEET and UGC NET.
  • As a result, the MOE has raised questions about shifting online exams to offline mode, so next year, the CUET exam might be entirely online.

3- Participating Universities to go beyond 300

  • In 2024, the UGC chairman stated that 300+ universities would accept the CUET score, and the number of CUET universities went up to 280+.
  • Therefore, there is a strong chance of 300+ universities by 2025.

4- Changes in Exam's difficulty level

  • CUET's Language Test and General Test undergo significant changes yearly at difficulty level.
  • Additionally, their syllabus is not entirely defined, so NTA may introduce new changes to them again this time.
