Overview: Appearing in the CUET entrance test or securing minimum qualifying marks does not entitle you to be considered for admission unless you satisfy the program-wise CUET eligibility criteria of the university. The CUET examination has become integral to every student's educational journey. This raises the question: Can any student take the CUET examination? The answer is No! CUET eligibility is categorized into two divisions, and you must satisfy both: 

  • Common CUET eligibility criteria
  • Program and college-specific CUET criteria," which vary.

Eligibility Criteria for CUET 2025

Generally, the CUET exam's eligibility criteria are defined under three parameters as mentioned below:

  • Age Limit
  • Educational Qualification
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks

To be eligible to take the Common University Entrance Test and before proceeding with the NTA CUET Application Form, you must:

  • Be Indian citizens or persons of Indian origin.
  • Must have completed (or be completing) the 10+2 level of education from a recognized board or university.
  • There's no age limit for the CUET exam. This means you can appear for the exam at any age. 
  • Relevant conditions of universities/institutions (as applicable) will apply for the year of appearance in the Class 12 / equivalent examination.
  • Ensure your eligibility from the respective Universities/institutions' websites.

Things to keep in mind:

  • To get admission to Central Universities through CUET 2025, the respective university's existing policies regarding quota, category, relaxation, reservations, qualification, subject combinations, preferences, etc., shall apply.
  • As the CUET eligibility criteria for admission may be unique for every university, you are advised to visit the university website to which you apply for the program.
  • Appearing in the entrance test or securing CUET qualifying marks does not entitle you to be considered for admission unless you satisfy the program-wise eligibility conditions of the university.

CUET Eligibility Age Limit 2025

Question - I am 23 years old. Am I eligible to apply? 

  • There is no age limit for the candidates appearing in the CUET UG exam.
  • However, you must fulfil the age criteria (if any) of the particular CUET universities you desire to apply to. 

CUET Educational Qualification 2025

Question - I study in class 11. Can I appear in CUET 2025? 

  • According to the CUET eligibility criteria, you must have completed class 12 from a recognized university or board.
  • Or 10+3 diploma approved by the State Board of Technical Education
  • You must have studied subjects in 10+2 classes depending on your chosen course.
  • As per the official notification, those appearing for the qualifying examination (12th exam) in 2025 are also eligible to apply for CUET.

For instance - You opted for the Bachelor of Science (Mathematics honours), you must have studied Mathematics as a major subject in class 12th to satisfy the eligibility criteria for CUET.

CUET Eligibility Criteria 2025 - Minimum Qualifying Marks

Question - I scored 75% marks in class 12. Am I eligible to apply for the CUET exam? 

  • According to the eligibility criteria for CUET exam, no minimum qualifying marks are set by the National Testing Agency to take the exam.
  • However, as the respective university prescribes for its courses, you must have obtained a minimum qualifying score in class 12 or an equivalent exam.
  • The minimum qualifying marks vary for each participating university.
  • If you are willing to be admitted for the specific CUET courses, visit the official website of the university.

How many attempts are there in CUET Exam?

  • Unlike other entrance exams, the CUET attempt limit is "n" the number of times.
  • You can attempt this exam as long as you fulfil the CUET eligibility criteria for age, educational qualifications, and minimum marks set by universities.

CUET Reservation Policy 2025

You must remember that CUET eligibility criteria for programs and universities may vary based on the Indian government's reservation policies. 

  • A certain percentage of seats are reserved for Indian Nationals in specific reserved categories as per the rules prescribed by the Government of India.
  • However, in the case of the central universities, the reservation policy is applicable according to the rules of the respective university.
  • To claim the reservation's benefit, upload the required latest category certificate issued on or after 01 January 202,5 under the latest guidelines of the Government of India.

Important points regarding CUET reservations:

  • If you want to avail reservation under the PwD category, you must have a Physical Disability certificate (Unique Disability Identification (UDID) Certificate) issued by the notified medical authority.
  • Candidates who wish to avail reservation under the PwBD must have the disability certificate mentioning ‘Severe’ under the Dyslexia category.
  • Some universities may provide reservations for the Economically Weaker Sections, which can account for 10% of the total seats
  • The minimum degree of disability should be 40% (Benchmark Disability) to be eligible for availing reservation for persons with specified disability.
  • No change in category will be accepted after the last date specified by NTA for CUET UG Registration.

CUET Eligibility Criteria 2025 for Top 5 Universities

You must appear for the CUET entrance test to get admission to undergraduate courses at any of the 280+ participating universities.

  • CUET Admissions are solely based on performance in the entrance exam, making it extremely important to prepare thoroughly.
  • All the 280+ participating universities follow different policies regarding criteria, age limit, relaxation, reservations, minimum marks, subject combinations, etc.
  • The eligibility criteria for CUET exam 2025 for various UG courses are listed on each university's website with exam pattern details.

CUET Eligibility Criteria 2025 for University of Delhi (DU) UG courses

  • From the academic session of 2025, the admissions to undergraduate courses at Delhi University are solely based on Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores.
  • According to the CUET exam eligibility criteria 2025, there is no age limit for applying for the entrance exam, and DU does not impose any eligibility requirements. 
  • To write CUET, you must have valid scores in class 12. However, DU has specific requirements for admission to its UG program, which are as follows:

As per the CUET Eligibility Criteria for DU, you must have appeared for the four exams in the CUET and scored minimum qualifying marks in the language test.

  • Any one language in relevance to the opted is compulsory
  • To appear for domain subjects chosen in Class XII (compulsory) 
  • A minimum of 30% in the language paper
  • A General Test is mandatory for admission to UG courses at DU.
  • Merit will be based on the CUET scores obtained in mentioned combination of subjects.

B.A.(Hons.) History Candidates must appear in CUET in the following subject combination: Any one Language from List A + Any two subjects from List B1 + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 Merit will be based on the CUET scores obtained from the above-mentioned combination of subjects.
B.Voc. (Banking Operations) Candidates must appear in CUET in any of the following subject combinations: Combination I: Any one Language from List A + Any two subjects from List B1 + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2. OR Combination II: Any one Language from List A + Any one subject from either List B1 or List B2 + SECTION III of CUET (General Test) Merit will be based on the best CUET scores obtained from the above-mentioned combination of subjects. B.Sc. in Physical Education, Health Education & Sports "Candidates must appear in both CUET and Performance-based test. The CUET BHU Eligibility criteria are divided on the following aspects: 

  • Required subjects in CUET: You must have opted for subjects mapped with the course for admission to BHU.
