One of the most anticipated exams for students in school still remains the CBSE Board exam. Today, the Board revealed the exam dates for the 2024 session. It has been confirmed that the exams will commence on February 15, 2024, and will likely go on till April 10, 2024.

When is the exam scheduled?

The anticipation regarding the CBSE Board exams date is finally over for the 35 lakh+ students who are expected to appear for the exam in 2024. The Central Board of Secondary Education revealed in a notification that the exam session for both Classes XI and XII will start on the 15th of February. These exams will continue for 55 days, as is usually the case, before ending tentatively on April 10, 2024.

Practical exam dates have also been released

Students who are gearing up for their 2024 Boards exams must also be prepared for their Boards practical exams since the marks will be counted in their final result. To this end, CBSE has shared that practical exams will commence as soon as the new year starts, i.e. from January 1, 2024.

CBSE wants you to avoid any lags in preparation

To make sure students don't lose focus and keep preparing for the upcoming board exams, a selection of practice papers has been shared on the official CBSE website. Students can start practising for their respective Class X and Class XII subjects using test papers set by examiners at the Central Board of Secondary Education.

Why has the schedule for the exam been delayed?

Sources suggest that CBSE is waiting for the 2024 General Election schedule to be declared so that exams can be scheduled for days when no other government activity is planned. This will ensure the entire exam conduction happens smoothly without causing additional stress to the students.

Students appearing for the board exams at the Class X and XII levels will have to wait a while longer for the actual dates of their subject-wise exams to be revealed. As soon as the election schedule is shared publicly, students and their parents can expect to know more regarding the dates on which the various subjects will be tested.

There are no grades, only marks to be awarded to all students this year

CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj stated, "No overall division, distinction or aggregate of marks shall be awarded. Also, if a candidate has offered more than five subjects, the decision to determine the best five subjects may be taken by the admitting institution or employer."

Previously, the Board had initiated a practice of awarding grades for students in Class XI, which would then have to be converted into marks by students if the same was required by any institution in their academic or career journeys. However, this practice was discontinued in favour of awarding marks at every stage to ensure students are eligible to apply anywhere they wish to, using marks obtained at the senior secondary level.
