TISS BAT Entrance Exam Syllabus 2023

Candidates who seek admission to various UG courses offered by Tata Institute of Social Sciences must qualify in the TISS BAT exam. This exam is conducted every year, The Tata Institute of Social Sciences will release the TISS BAT elaborated syllabus every year. With the help of the TISS BAT syllabus, the candidates can become accustomed to the type questions that will appear in the TISS BAT entrance exam. Being aware of the TISS BAT syllabus will also be beneficial in the preparation of the exam. Therefore, candidates who wish to qualify the entrance exam of TISS BAT should be thorough with the syllabus.

The TISS exam is based on Current affairs, Social Awareness, Logical and Analytical Reasonings, and English Proficiency. So, once you've gone through the entire syllabus and ideas, you can progress toward your objective by practising and developing your aptitude for questions.

TISS BAT Syllabus

TISS Exam is divided into two sets of Papers and both sections are compulsory, Candidate need to qualify in both the sections separately

TISS BAT Paper one will be an online exam and the duration of the exam is 90 minutes.

TISS BAT Paper two will be a pen and paper exam and the duration of the exam will be of 30 minutes.

Paper one carrie's 60 questions of 60 marks and it is expected to complete this section within 60 minutes

Paper two carrie’s 30 Questions of 40 marks and it is expected to complete this section within 30 minutes

TISS BAT Paper One

Firstly talking about the TISS BAT paper one it is an online exam all the questions will be of multiple choice. Candidates can check the section wise mentioned topics and plan preparation accordingly.

Candidates' verbal abilities and reading comprehension skills are evaluated in this section. In total 20 questions will be asked in the following topics covered in this section:

 

Usage of idioms

Idiom is a commonly used phrase that, when taken as a whole, has a meaning that you wouldn't be able to discern from the individual words'. Idioms are a sort of metaphorical language that can be used to jump straight into otherwise dull text. Idioms can also be used to: Communicate Complex Ideas in a Simple Way. Idioms can often be used to explain a complex or abstract topic in a concise and understandable manner.

Odd word out

This section evaluates a student's knowledge of vocabulary, synonyms, word usage, parts of speech, letter recognition, rhyming skills, and logic skills, because the problems group words together based on similarities and ask you to isolate the word that does not fit into the group. Two questions will be asked from this section. 

Jumbled sentences

Synonyms /antonyms

Words that have the same, or nearly the same, meaning as another word are called synonyms. An antonym is a word that has the opposite meaning as another word. Two Questions will be asked from this section

Spelling of Words

Two Questions will be asked from this section

Sentence correction

In these questions, one or more sentences are provided, with parts of them underlined or bolded. You must check to see if there are any errors in the sentence or in the highlighted parts of it. Two Questions will be asked from this section.

Reading comprehension

Four paragraphs will be there with one MCQ question each from the paragraph.

Mathematics/numerical ability

Candidates' Mathematical solving abilities are evaluated in this section. The following are among the topics covered in this section:

Integers/fractions

In this Section Basic Integer and Fraction questions will be asked. Two questions will be asked from this section.

Data interpretations (bar graphs, pie charts etc.)

In this section questions from basic types of charts and graphs will be asked. The most common types are line graphs, bar graphs and histograms, pie charts, and Cartesian graphs. 

Time, distance and work

In this section the speed formulas, time and distance aptitude questions will be asked. 

Averages

In this section questions will be asked from the three main types of average: mean, median and mode

Simple /compound interest

Simple interest is based on the principal amount of a loan or deposit. And compound interest is based on the principal amount and the interest that accumulates on it in every period. 

Geometry

This section is concerned with the shape of individual objects, spatial relationships among various objects, and the properties of surrounding space.

Profit and loss

This section is based on basic profit and loss conceptual questions, there will be a maximum of three questions from this section.

Ratio proportion and variation

This section is based on Ratio, proportion and variation conceptual questions, there will be a maximum of three questions from this section.

Family/circular arrangement

Cubes

Logical connectivity/coding-decoding

Statement conclusion/true or false

TISS BAT Paper Two

This exam will be a Pen and Paper exam of 30 mins, Four topics will be given to the candidates out of which they have to write essay on any two topics

  • There is no set curriculum for essay writing. Candidates must be aware of the country's social issues and be able to express their views on them.
