Overview: Students aspiring to take admission in Symbiosis International (Deemed University) must satisfy the SNAP eligibility criteria before applying. This blog will familiarize you with the SNAP program Eligibility for different colleges!

The Symbiosis National Aptitude Test (SNAP) is a well-known entrance exam for MBA programs that 16 Symbiosis Institutes across India offer. Each year, approximately 100,000 students from various academic backgrounds, including Engineering, Commerce, Humanities, and Law, take this exam to compete for one of the 2,500 available MBA seats in Symbiosis colleges.

SNAP Eligibility Criteria For International Students

International Students must visit www.scie.ac.in to learn about the application process and SNAP exam eligibility for a user-friendly online application. 

There are typically four categories that students can apply under: 

  • Foreign National
  • Person Of Indian Origin
  • Overseas Citizenship of India
  • Non-Resident Indian.

Candidates must satisfy the defined SNAP exam eligibility requirements to apply under the categories mentioned above:

  • Foreign National (FN): The candidate must be a citizen of a country other than India and hold a foreign passport.
  • Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI): The candidate must be granted the Overseas Citizenship of India and have an OCI card.
  • Person of Indian Origin (PIO): The candidate must have a PIO card and be a citizen of a country other than India. [According to the Government of India notification dated 9th January 2015, individuals currently holding a Persons of Indian Origin card will be considered Overseas Citizens of India cardholders OCI.]
  • Non-Resident Indian (NRI): The candidate must be an Indian National and have appeared for the 12th (Intermediate) examinations or pursued graduation outside India. One of the two qualifying examinations must be taken outside India. NRI Candidates who have completed their graduation from a recognized Indian or foreign university and have applied for the SNAP exam have the option to choose between the National Student and NRI categories. Candidates using the NRI must register and apply through the Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE).

To satisfy the SNAP exam eligibility, an English Proficiency Test is mandatory for foreign nationals, OCII, and PIOO students. You can choose either IELTS or IELA, depending on your preference. To meet the SNAP exam eligibility requirements, a minimum score of 4 is needed for IELA and a minimum score of 6 for IELTS.

SNAP Eligibility Criteria - FN/OCI/NRI/PIO

International Students SNAP Exam Eligibility 
Candidate must have completed a full-time, three-year Bachelor's Degree program from any statutory University with at least 50% marks at the graduate level.
For the Engineering Stream, a full-time four-year Bachelor's Degree program from any statutory University with a graduate-level threshold of 50% marks is required.
Final-year students are also eligible to apply, but their admission will depend on obtaining a threshold limit of 50% marks at the qualifying examination.

Please make a note of the following points necessary to be eligible for SNAP test:

  • Students must pass in their final examinations to be eligible for SNAP test.
  • Every program has specific SNAP test eligibility criteria, which can be found on the institution's official website.
  • MBA Admission is subject to fulfilling the SNAP test eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates must ensure they have the qualifications for admission and are eligible for the SNAP test.
  • Applying and paying the fee does not guarantee their eligibility for SNAP test.
  • After receiving all required documentation, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) will determine the final SNAP eligibility criteria for admission.

After graduation, the candidate must also have at least two years of full-time work experience. (b) A candidate who graduated from a foreign university must present an Association Of Indian Universities AIUU) certificate.
Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) MMBA A (Agri-Business) Candidate should have a bachelor's degree and achieve a threshold of 50% marks in the aggregate (45% for SC/ST) from an accredited institution of higher learning. Final-year students can also apply but must achieve a threshold of 50% marks (45% marks for SC/STs). A candidate who graduated from a foreign university must present an Association Of Indian Universities AIUU) certificate.
Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) MMBA A (Energy and Environment) Candidate should have a bachelor's degree in Technology/Architecture/ Engineering/ Environmental science with a threshold of 50% marks (45% for SC/STs) from an accredited institution of higher learning. Final-year students can also apply but must achieve a threshold of 50% marks (45% marks for SC/STs). A candidate who graduated from a foreign university must present an Association Of Indian Universities AIUU) certificate.
Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) MMBA A Candidate should have a bachelor's degree with a threshold of 50% marks in the aggregate (45% for SC/STs) from an accredited institution of higher learning. Final-year students can also apply but must achieve a threshold of 50% marks (45% marks for SC/STs). Defence personnel and their dependents of defence personnel (on a merit basis). A candidate who graduated from a foreign university must present an Association Of Indian Universities AIUU) certificate.

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), NagpurM.B.A. A (Food and Agri-Business Management) To be eligible for the exam, graduates from any accredited college or institution of national significance must achieve a threshold of 50% (45% marks for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes).

SNAP Eligibility Criteria - Reservation Policy

The admission reservation policy for any programme offered by any SIU institute will be the following, except for Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, which has a separate policy. 

[A] SNAP Test Eligibility - Within Sanctioned Intake: 

1] Scheduled Castes Candidates: The University reserves 15% of seats for Scheduled Castes Candidates in all academic programs, as defined under Article 341 of the Constitution. 

2] Scheduled Tribes Candidates: The University reserves 7.5% of seats for Scheduled Tribes Candidates in all academic programs, as defined under Article 342 of the Constitution. 

3] Differently Abled Candidates: The University has reserved 3% of seats for differently abled candidates in compliance with government directives on disability guidelines. This provision is based on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, and the University Grants Commission Notification.

The types of disabilities covered under this category are as follows: - (i) Vision Impairment (ii) Hearing Impairment (iii) Locomotors Disabilities (iv) Mental Retardation (v) Multiple Disabilities (vi) Dyslexia (vii)Learning Disability 

4] Children/ Wards of Defence personnel / Defence Special Category: The reserved seats for the Master of Business Administration program at Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies (SIMS) are provided for children/wards of serving/retired Defence personnel from Army, Navy, and Air Force. This also includes children of Defence personnel who passed away during service or after retirement. Has provisions for up to 90% reservations, with 80% for children/wards of Defence personnel and 10% for the Special Defence Category, as per the Memorandum of Association between Symbiosis and the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

Defence Personnel would include only children/wards of serving/retired Defence personnel from the Navy, Army, and Air Force. Retired defence personnel include those who passed away while in service or after retirement.

The University has 5 % of the seats for Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel in Institutes as listed below:

(i) Master of Business Administration (Digital and Telecom Management) programme offered by Symbiosis Institute of Digital & Telecom Management (SIDTM), Pune 

 (ii) Master of Business Administration (International Business) programme offered by Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), Pune 

(iii)Master of Business Administration (Information Technology) programme offered by Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research (SICSR), Pune

(iv)Master of Business Administration (Information Technology Business Management) programme offered by Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology (SCIT), Pune 

NOTE:

  • Applicants who are Children or wards of Defence Personnel applying for programmes other than the four mentioned will be categorized as OPEN Category candidates.
  • Applicants from "Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel" should choose the category "Wards/Children of Defence Personnel" for each programme separately. 

5] Domiciled: In compliance with the terms outlined in the Lease Deed between Symbiosis, Pune and Nagpur Municipal Corporation, 25% of the seats in each program offered at the Nagpur Off-campus Center are reserved for candidates domiciled in Nagpur. 

A Nagpur-domiciled candidate has lived in Nagpur for at least five years before the start of the academic year and has graduated from or is currently pursuing a qualification from Nagpur University.

[B] SNAP Test Eligibility - Supernumerary Quota

1]The University also accepts candidates under the SupeUniversityQuota. 

  • Kashmiri Migrants and Kashmiri Pandits/ Kashmiri Hindu Families living in the Kashmir valley: Two seats are reserved for the candidates falling under this category per programme.
  • International candidates: The maximum approved intake is 20% for the candidates belonging to this category.

2]The percentage of reservations and the SNAP test eligibility categories in the reservations may vary from time to time. 

3]Candidates applying under any reserved category must submit relevant documents from the competent authority. 

4]Suppose a candidate falls under more than one category. In that case, they must select one category at the time of registration, and their benefits and entitlements will be based on the selected category for the entire admission process. 

5]Candidates belonging to reserved categories should carefully review the SNAP test eligibility requirements before applying. 

6]While the University aims for candidates from reserved universities to join programs, they must meet the minimum eligibility for SNAP test and achieve a certain level of performance in the admission test. 

7]Suppose any information provided by the candidate regarding their category is found to be untrue. In that case, the University reserves the right to cancel the university candidature at any stage of the admission process.

[B] SNAP Test Eligibility - Supernumerary Quota
