What is IIFT Entrance Exam? 

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) entrance exam is a national-level test conducted once a year by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to the IIFT-MBA (International Business) Programme.  

The institute has campuses in New Delhi, Kolkata and Kakinada (Andhra Pradesh). A new campus (international) at GIFT City Gandhinagar is also being set up. 

MBA (IB) programme offered by IIFT is a six-trimester general management programme designed to develop a competent cadre of business executives to meet the country’s growing requirements for trained personnel in the field of International Business Management.

IIFT Entrance Exam 2024 – Important Updates 

• The authorities have released the IIFT 2024 Application Forms on the official website on Oct 27, 2023. Students can follow the IIFT Registration direct link to  
• IIFT Exam 2024 has been officially cancelled, and MBA admissions will now be based on CAT 2023 Entrance Exam. The registration period for CAT 2023 commenced on August 2, 2023, and will conclude on September 25, 2023. The CAT 2023 exam is scheduled for November 26, 2023.
• For those who were anticipating the IIFT official notification after applying for CAT 2023, it is important to note that they can now seek admission using their CAT 2023 scores. It is worth mentioning that IIFT, which traditionally conducted MBA admissions through its own entrance exam, has discontinued this practice.

IIFT Entrance Exam 2024 Notification – Eligibility

For General & Reserved Categories

• Recognized Bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with minimum 50% marks [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD) categories]
• As per the IIFT Exam Notification, final year graduation students can also apply subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification at the time of admission.
• There is no age limit for appearing in the CAT Entrance Exam.

For Foreign Nationals/NRIs:

• Recognized Bachelor's degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline with minimum 50% marks
• Final year graduation students can also apply subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification at the time of admission.
• In order to qualify as an international candidate for the purpose of applying to the CAT Entrance Exam, a candidate should have been (expected to be) resident outside India for a period of not less than 18 months as of 31st December 2023 and be outside India during the IIFT examination window.
• The Foreign Nationals/NRIs who are present in India at the time of the IIFT Entrance Exam are required to take the entrance examination.
• Foreign Nationals need to have a valid passport/travel document from a country other than India.
• The candidate should produce a Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) score, which should be received by the Institute by 15 March 2023. GMAT taken before 1 January 2022 is not valid.
• If the candidate has appeared for any MBA entrance examination such as CAT /XAT /IIFT, etc., he /she is not eligible to apply as a Foreign Nationals/NRI Candidate.

IIFT Exam 2024 Notification – Reservation Policy

Reservation of seats in IIFT for the MBA (IB) 2024-26 course is as per the GOI guidelines. Currently, seats are reserved as follows:

• 15% of the seats are reserved for the category Scheduled Caste (SC),
• 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe (ST) and
• 27% for the category Other Backward Classes belonging to the “Non Creamy layer” (OBC-NCL).
• 10% of the seats are reserved for the Category General-Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS)
• Each category will have 5% reservations for Persons with Disabilities (PwD)
• Additionally, it has been decided by IIFT to reserve one seat for the wards of Kashmiri Migrants and Kashmiri Pandits / Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrants) living in Kashmir Valley in the MBA (IB) course of IIFT, in accordance with government guidelines. Such candidates are eligible for relaxation in cut-off percentage up to 10% subject to minimum eligibility requirement.
• In addition to the above, 10 seats are reserved at the Delhi campus for Foreign Nationals and NRIs on a supernumerary basis.

IIFT Entrance Exam Notification 2024– Examination Fee

Processing charges and goods and Services Tax (GST) are to be paid by the candidate, as applicable.

IIFT 2024 Notification – CAT Application Process 

Step 1 - Apply for Online Registration using a unique Email ID and Mobile No. 

Step 2 - Fill in the Online Application Form and note down the system-generated Application No. Upload scanned images of your photograph (file size: 10 kb - 200 kb), your signature (file size: 4kb - 30kb) and a Copy of the Certificate indicating Category and/or Subcategory (PwD) as applicable (file size: 50kb -300kb). All documents are to be uploaded in PDF. 

Step 3 - Pay the fee using ICICI Payment Gateway through a Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking / UPI and keep proof of the fee paid. In case the confirmation page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled, and the amount will be refunded to the candidate’s account. However, the candidate has to make another transaction in case the confirmation page is not generated. 

All the 3 Steps can be done together or at separate times. The final submission of the Online Application Form will remain incomplete if Step 3 is not completed, and such forms will stand rejected and no correspondence on the accounts will be entertained. 

The entire application process of CAT Entrance Exam is online, including uploading of scanned images, payment of fees, and printing of the confirmation page. Therefore, candidates are not required to send/submit any document(s), including the confirmation page, to NTA through Post/ Fax/ by Hand/E-mail. 

A separate online window for NRIs/Foreign nationals only will be opened from 15.01.2024 to 15.03.2024 for submission of their application. NRIs/Foreign nationals may submit their applications and pay the fee online during that period.

IIFT Notification for Admission through CAT Exam   

For General/SC/ST/PH/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates: 

• On the basis of the CAT Entrance Exam 2024, Group Discussion, Writing Skills Assessment and Personal Interview. 
• Computer Based Test is scheduled on November 26 2023, in around 155 CAT exam centres across the country. 
• Shortlisted candidates will be called for Writing Skills Assessment, Group Discussion/Extempore, and Interview to be held in February / March 2024 at Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai.

For Foreign Nationals/NRIs: 

• On the basis of the General Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) and Personal Interview. 
• For MBA 2024-26, GMAT results should not have been declared before 1 January 2022 and should be received by the Institute latest by 15 March 2023. The last date to submit the application fee is 15 March 2023 (tentative).
