  • CMAT Exam 2024 is set to be held on 15 May 2024 in exam centres across 110 cities.
  • The CMAT Exam Admit Card was released on 6 May,2024.
  • The exam difficulty level is expected to be between easy-moderate.
  • CMAT 2024 has five main sections: Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, Logical Reasoning, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. 
  • The question paper will of 180 minutes.
  • The notification for the city of the exam centre will be displayed 10 days before the Exam on the CMAT NTA official website, https://exams.nta.ac.in/CMAT.

CMAT Question Paper Structure 2024:

The CMAT Exam Question Paper 2024 consists of five main sections - Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, Logical Reasoning, and Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Each section comprises 20 questions of 4 marks each. Understanding the structure will help you navigate through the exam with confidence. 

  • The CMAT exam is a computer-based format exam.
  • Each section carries an equal weightage of 20 marks, totalling 400 marks.
  • The exam duration is three hours, with no sectional time limits.
  • A candidate is awarded four marks for each correct answer.
  • There is a negative marking of 1 mark for every wrong answer.
  • Unanswered/un-attempted will be given no marks.

Previous Year Question Paper Trends:

CMAT Exam 2023 

  • Experts considered the difficulty level of the CMAT Exam 2023 between Easy to Moderate. 
  • It was because the questions were evenly spread across topics from the syllabus.
  • Comparatively, Shift 1 was found to be easier than Shift 2. None of the questions in this section were lengthy or time-consuming. 
  • The General Awareness section in Shift 2 was moderately tricky, whereas the Language comprehension questions were easy to comprehend. 
  • Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Techniques questions were straightforward in both shifts.

CMAT 2022

  • CMAT 2022 was considered more challenging than CMAT 2021. The exam paper format also changed a great deal.
  • The Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation section was considered manageable. The questions on Data Interpretation were based on Tables and Pie charts, and this section involved easy and straightforward calculations. 
  • The Logical Reasoning section had no set-based questions, and all the questions were standalone. The questions were not lengthy and were very easy to solve.
  • In the language section, RC questions had moderate difficulty levels, whereas the non-RC questions were easy to solve.
  • The General Awareness, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship sections were of high difficulty, and an attempt of 8-10 questions with 85% accuracy was considered good.

CMAT 2021

  • The CMAT exam 2021 was of moderate to difficult level of difficulty. 
  •  Innovation and Entrepreneurship was introduced in the CMAT exam. It was an optional section, which was later made compulsory in 2022.
  • Candidates were given an extra 30 minutes in the exam to solve this section of the CMAT 2021 question paper.
  • Candidates found The Quantitative Techniques section less calculation intensive. Four questions on Data Interpretation were straightforward to solve.
  • The Logical reasoning and Language sections were considered easy for a well-prepared student.
  • The General Awareness questions were primarily static and more complex than previous trends.
  • The new section on innovation and entrepreneurship asked questions based on recent innovations.
  • Overall, experts predicted the overall cutoffs would fall.
