SSC JE Exam Pattern 2020

The Staff Selection Commission, SSC conducts the JE exam in two stages; Preliminary and Mains exam. Both the stages are qualifying in nature. Candidates scoring above the SSC JE Cut Off will be eligible for receiving the appointment for the desired branch.

SSC JE Selection Process 2020

In SSC JE Recruitment, there are four stages involved in the selection. Candidates qualifying each stage of the SSC JE Selection Process will be eligible for receiving the appointment of their applied post. 

1. Paper 1 (Prelims Exam) - This is an online mode of exam conducted for a total of 200 marks. Candidates must score above the cut off marks in order to be eligible for the Mains exam. 
2. Paper 2 (Mains Exam) - This is the second stage of recruitment conducted in offline mode. The exam includes MCQs for a total of 300 marks. This exam is completely based on the technical subject chosen by the candidate. 
3. Interview - This is another stage after the written examination conducted for 100 marks.
4. Document Verification - After qualifying both the Prelims and Mains, candidates need to appear for the document verification. There are certain documents prescribed by the authorities that have to be brought on the day of verification.
5. Medical Examination - In order to test if the candidate is physically fit, the exam officials conduct the medical exam for each candidate. The medical fitness test varies for each technical discipline. 

SSC JE Exam Pattern 2020

SSC JE Paper 1 Exam Pattern 2020

Let's start with the official SSC JE Exam Pattern for the Paper I (Preliminary) exam mentioned in the table below;

• The preliminary round or Paper I of SSC JE will consist of 3 sections; Reasoning Ability, General Awareness, and Technical (Engineering) section.
• This round of the selection process will comprise of 200 questions weighing 200 marks.
• The total duration to finish the preliminary round will be 2 Hrs (120 Minutes).
• The prelims exam will be of Objective Type (Multiple Choice Questions).
• Section 1 and 2 are compulsory for all candidates, however, for section 3 candidates need to make a choice for the subject from Civil/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering

SSC JE Paper 2 Exam Pattern 2020

The second stage of SSC JE, i.e., Paper 2 or Mains Exam is an offline mode of exam. There are a total of 300 questions for 300 marks. The exam includes only technical discipline. 

• The total marks for this paper are 300, and you will get 2 hours (120 Minutes) to complete the paper.
• Mains exam will have one Technical Section (Civil & Structural or Electrical or Mechanical) where questions from respective streams will be asked.

SSC JE Personality Test (Interview)

This is the third stage in selection process, The personality test is conducted for 100 marks. 

• The SSC JE Interview tests candidate's interest i.e., knowledge, aptitude, suitability, etc. 
• Also, the examiner asks questions about the candidate's educational qualification, experience, extra-curricular activities, general awareness, GK, and depth of knowledge of technical subjects.
• Candidates appearing for the interview stage will have to communicate either in English/Hindi during the process.
