Karnataka Judicial Services Eligibility Criteria 2023

The Karnataka Judiciary Eligibility Criteria are explained in two separate categories below. Aspirants fulfilling the Karnataka Civil Judge Eligibility Criteria can proceed with the application process. 

For Direct Recruitment:

  • Candidates applying through direct recruitment must have a law degree and be enrolled as an Advocate.
  • SC or ST applicants must not have completed 43 years of age as of 26th March 2022.
  • Unreserved candidates must not have completed 40 years of age.

Recruitment of In-service Candidates

  • If you are already in service and willing to apply for the Civil Judge post, you must have a law degree awarded by a recognized University in India.
  • SC or ST candidates must not have attained the age of 38 as of 26th March 2022.
  • Unreserved candidates must not have attained the age of 35 years.
  • Those with the required qualifications and working in the High Court and District Judiciary are eligible to apply.
  • Those working in the Department of Prosecutions and government litigation as assistant public prosecutors cum additional government pleaders can apply.

Here are the detailed instructions to fill the form correctly without attempting any mistakes.

Registration/Filling the Application Form

  1. Visit the official website of Karnataka High Court, i.e., karnatakajudiciary.kar.nic.in
  2. On the homepage, click on the Notifications tab, then select Recruitment.
  3. Click on the link "Notification No. CJR 1/2022 for Direct Recruitment of 56 Posts of Civil Judges"
  4. Click on the link "To Apply Online Application -Click Here-"
  5. On the new page, click on the "Online Application" Button.
  6. Select Civil Judge in the dropdown.
  7. Enter all the personal details correctly, i.e., Candidate Name, Father Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Category, Marital Status, Citizenship, etc.
  8. Complete the Enrolment Information by entering all the correct details. Next, you will have to enter all the Educational Qualification details.
  9. Further, the candidate needs to enter Law Graduation Information and Practice Information.

Uploading of Documents

  • Applicants must upload a passport-size photograph and signature in the specified format.
  • Select Passport Size Photo from the Dropdown list.
  • Click "Choose File" to select the file and upload the Photograph.
  • Select "Applicant Signature" from the Dropdown list. Click on "Choose File" to select the file and click on the upload button.
  • Check the box after uploading the documents and submit the form.

Payment of Application Fee

  • After submitting the form, the Application Number will be generated.
  • Candidates take a printout of the form and make the payment 
  • Applicants can make the payment either through online mode or offline mode.

Karnataka High Court Civil Judge Selection Process 2023

The selection of candidates for the vacancies is made through the following procedure. Candidates securing minimum marks in each stage will be successfully eligible to receive the Civil Judge post appointment. 

  1. Preliminary Examination - This is the first stage of Recruitment, wherein candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in the online exam. This exam includes multiple-choice questions for 100 marks. Candidates scoring above the cut-off will be eligible for the Mains exam.
  2. Mains Exam - This is the second stage of the selection process, a descriptive exam mode. This stage includes four sections for 400 marks, and the marks scored by candidates in this section will be considered for the Interview round.
  3. Viva-Voce or Interview - This stage tests the candidate's general knowledge, principles of law, and suitability for the appointment for the post. The Interview is conducted for 25 marks.
  4. Computer Test - This round is conducted to test the candidate's knowledge of computers. Marks secured in the computer exam are not considered for the final result, and the maximum marks allotted to the computer test are 25 marks.

Karnataka Judiciary Admit Card 2023

Admit card is an important document to be carried to the exam hall without fail. The exam conducting authority will release the Karnataka Judiciary Admit Card 2023 at least 15 days before the exam.

  • Candidates can download the admit card only from the official website.
  • Candidates can download the admit card by entering the registration number and password.
  • This hall ticket must be preserved safely until the last stage of the selection process. 
  • It is advised to take 3-4 coloured printouts of the admit card for better clarity and visibility of the candidate's image.

Karnataka State Judiciary Recruitment Probation Period 2023

After the final selection of candidates for individual posts, candidates must serve a probationary period of 2 years. During the probation period, the newly appointed Civil Judge must

  • Undergo a training period of 1 year or more than one year as decided by the organization.
  • Pass Kannada Language Examination conducted by Karnataka Public Service Commission. This Kannada examination is performed only for those candidates who have not passed the language examination earlier.
