IIT HSEE Application Form 2022

Indian Institute of Technology, Madras will conduct the Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination or HSEE 2022. It is a national level exam conducted for the admission of 10 + 2 eligible candidates to the master programme offered by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) of the Institute. The test is completely computer based and is usually conducted in the second or third week of April in various cities across India.
Applicants eager to enter the University are advised to fill the Application Form carefully by referring to the guidelines laid down by the university well before the last date to prevent last-minute hassles.

  • Before filling the Application Form 2022, candidates must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates can fill the Application Form only through the online mode.
  • Application form is expected to start tentatively from the first week of March 2022.
  • Aspirants should follow the guidelines given here to fill out the Online Application Form without making any mistakes.
  • The application process requires registration, filling in details, uploading scanned images, and finally paying the application fee.
  • Applicants must have completed the 12th grade or equivalent assessment from a recognized university or board to qualify for the HSEE.

HSEE Application Form 2022

Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, the conducting body shall release the HSEE 2022 Online Application Form tentatively from the first week of February 2022, on its official website. The submission of the application for the recruitment will be subject to various Eligibility Criteria laid out by the authority, depending upon the level of the exam.

  • Completed application has to be submitted online only, tentatively on or before March 15, 2022.
  • Candidates belonging to GEN-EWS category must upload a scanned copy of the GEN-EWS-Undertaking. They are required to upload the valid GEN-EWS certificate tentatively by May 30, 2022
  • Candidates belonging to OBC-NCL category must upload a scanned copy of the OBC-NCL-Undertaking. They are required to upload the valid OBC-NCL certificate tentatively by May 30, 2022.
  • Check the Online/Offline payment details in the application form.
  • Obtain category certificate(s) as applicable, in the prescribed format(s) as given in the Information Brochure.
  • Candidates are advised to check the status of their application at the HSEE official website
  • The examination fee is non-refundable.

HSEE 2022 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 

Only candidates that comply with the HSEE eligibility criteria can register for the entrance test.

HSEE ELIGIBILITY: Qualifying Examination

  • A Candidate should have appeared in any one of the following qualifying examinations for the first time in either 2021 or 2022.
  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by a Central or State Board recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. 
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a Board or University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities. 
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defense Academy. 
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects. 
  • Any Public School, Board or University examination in India or in a foreign country is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities. 
  • H.S.C. vocational examination. 
  • Class XII skill courses of CBSE. 
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level. 
  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

Candidates who have completed Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not specified above should produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the examination they have passed is equivalent to the Class XII examination.
In case the Class XII examination is not a public examination, the candidate must have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) examination earlier.

HSEE ELIGIBILITY: AGE RELAXATION

The HSEE 2022 age relaxation differs depending on the Category. Candidates are expected that their date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1997 to be eligible for the admission process.  However, in the case of SC, ST and PwD candidates, the upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years.

  • Candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD and born on or after October 01, 1992 are eligible.
  • The date of birth as recorded in the High School (10th std./12th Std.) the first Board/ Pre-University Certificate will be taken as authentic
  • Candidates must produce a scanned copy of this certificate along with the completed Application Form as proof of their age and at the time of admission the original certificate has to be produced.
  • If a candidate takes admission on the basis of a false age claim or is not able to produce the original at the time of admission, the admission of such a candidate shall be canceled with forfeiture of entire fees paid, as and when such cases are detected.

HSEE ELIGIBILITY: Nationality

  • Only Indian/ Overseas Citizens of India / Nepal Citizens candidates are eligible for admission through this admission brochure subject to fulfillment of eligibility and admission criteria. 
  • For admission of students who are not citizens of India, can also apply under the "Foreign Candidate" category.
  • Those who are in the category of International candidates (NRI), will also have to submit relevant documents related to their nationality.

Documents Required to Apply for HSEE 2022 Application form

Candidates need to have the below-mentioned documents in hand before filling the application form in place.

Marksheets

It is mandatory to upload Class X, or DOB certificate for age verification and scanned copy of 10+2 class mark sheet (if already passed 10+2 examination). Applicants need to upload a scanned copy of it in a pdf format.

  • The size should be between 50 kb to 100 kb.
  • The scanned document should be clear and visible

Applicant's Photograph

  • The photo needs to be in JPEG format. Otherwise, the form would be refused by the officials.
  • The photograph must be a recent passport size color picture.
  • The size of the photo image must be greater than 15 kb and less than 40 kb and the dimension of the photo image should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5cm (height) only.
  • Applicants must ensure that the picture is in color taken against a light-colored, ideally white background.
  • Caps, hats, and dark glasses in the image are not acceptable
  • The applicant in the photo should be in front of the camera.

Scanned Copy of Signature

  • Candidates must upload a scanned copy of their signature. The same signature as that on the official documents, such as Aadhaar Card, Passport, etc. The applicant would be disqualified if the signature on the call letter signed at the time of the test, does not match the signature on the application form.
  • The scanned images of signature should be in jpg/jpeg format only
  • The size of the signature image must be greater than 10 kb and less than 30 kb and the dimension of the signature image should be 3.5 cm (length) x 1.5 (height) only.
  • The signature should be in a running hand, not in block letters.
  • It should also be on white paper with black or blue ink.
  • The scanned image should be clear and visible

Caste Certificate
Those who belong to the reserved categories should apply with their official caste certificates. They'll require a necessary caste certificate for verification purposes. 

  • Scanned copy of category certificate (GEN-EWS-Undertaking / OBC-NCL-Undertaking / SC / ST). See FORM-GEN-EWS-UNDERTAKING, FORM-OBC-NCL-UNDERTAKING, FORM-SC/ST
  • Scanned copy of PwD/Dyslexia/Scribe certificate, if applicable. See FORM-PwD(II), FORM-PwD(III), FORM-PwD(IV), FORM-DYSLEXIC-1, FORM-DYSLEXIC-2, FORMSCRIBE / COMPENSATORY TIME.
  • Scanned copy of category certificate should be in jpg/jpeg format only.

How to fill the HSEE Application Form 2022?

The applicant must fill out their application form online on the official website. Applicants can follow the steps set out below to complete the application form. You can also check detailed HSEE IIT Exam Pattern 2022

Step 1: Fresh Registration for new Candidates

  • Visit the official website hsee.iitm.ac.in.
  • On the Homepage click on the “Online registration for HSEE 2022”, a new login page will appear on the screen with the instructions. 
  • To avoid any future issues, carefully read all of the instructions shown on the screen.
  • Click the "Proceed to Apply Online" tab after reading all of the steps, as indicated below.

  • Details that candidates need to provide to create their Name, mobile number, Email ID, DOB and password and then click on the Submit button.

  • Remember the password filled here for creating Log In. 
  • Press the “Register” button. the details provided by the applicant in their login ID cannot be modified at a later stage. Thus, they need to fill in this information very carefully.
  • Upon successful registration, the applicant’s login credentials will be sent via email to the registered email address. Applicants should save this email for future reference.

Note: Kindly note that the Email-ID and Date of birth as filled by you will be used to login to the website to fill the online application form.

Step 2: Essential documents to be made ready

Keep the following details/documents/information ready with you before you start filling out your online application.

  • Personal details 
  • Educational qualification details 
  • Image of scanned photograph in jpg/jpeg format and size should be between 15 kb and less than 40 kb and the dimension of the photo image should be 3.5 cm (width) x 4.5cm (height) only.
  • Image of scanned signature in jpg/jpeg format and size should be between 10 kb and less than 30 kb and the dimension of the signature image should be 3.5 cm (length) x 1.5 (height) only.
  • Scanned copy of category certificate in jpg/jpeg format.

Step 3: Fill the Application Form

  • Login using your Login ID and Password sent to the candidate via email by clicking on the Login tab to Complete the Process.
  • Enter the verification code as shown and press the Submit button.
  • Please fill in the details on the online application form. Because your eligibility will be determined on the basis of the information you submit, you are expected to exercise adequate caution and provide the specifics of your qualifications, etc. correctly.
  • Enter other related data such as examination center choice, parent details, gender, nationality, academic details, address, and contact information.
  • Please save the details as you fill out the online application form by clicking the SAVE" button.
  • If you want to change some of the data, you can do so by logging in again. After editing the details, make sure you save the details by clicking the Save" button.

Step 4: Uploading documents

  • Click on the link to ‘Upload Documents/Images’
  • Browse to the location where the scanned photo was saved, pick the Photograph, and press the Upload button. 
  • Follow the same steps to upload the photograph, and other supporting documents, and then press the Next button.

Step 5: Pay Application Fee 

  • Before sending the Online form, applicants are advised to preview the application form by pressing the "Back" button as there is no correction window. Applicants may pay their application fee online via Debit Card or Netbanking. Keep your Debit Card/Internet Banking information handy.
  • Candidates are required to read the undertaking and accept the same.  
  • In case you wish to edit any information relating to Personal Details, Qualification Details, and/or Experience Details; you can do so by logging in again, and after editing the information, make sure to save the information again by pressing the “Save” button.
  • Tap on the "Make Payment" tab, you will be redirected to the bank's website where you have to make payment using any of the following options listed above.
  • Application fees will depend on the category of the candidate.
  • Now enter your Net Banking Account or Debit Card information to continue with the transfer. When your payment has been authenticated, the system will lead you to the final application form.
  • You'll get a self-generated Web Application No. after you've successfully completed your payment. After a successful transaction, the candidate will receive a preview of the application with the application number.
  • Applicants are advised to receive a printout of the complete application for approval. The applicant should carefully preserve its application number for the production of call letters and all other information for further processes.

Instructions For Filling Up The HSEE 2022 Online Application Form

The candidates are advised to go through the Eligibility criteria carefully and acquaint themselves with all requirements in respect to filling up of the Online Application Forms for the HSEE.

  • It will be the sole responsibility of the candidate to make sure that he / she is eligible and fulfills all the conditions prescribed for admission. The fee paid for application for admission shall not be refundable. 
  • If ineligibility of a candidate is detected at any stage before or after examination / declaration of result or during any stage of the programme, his / her candidature / admission will be canceled without any notice, disciplinary action will be taken against him / her and entire fee will also be forfeited.

Category

Filling Criterion

Name 

Enter the name in capital letters as given in the High School (10th standard) certificate. Leave one and only one blank box between consecutive words of the name. If the name has several initials, leave one blank after each of them. Do not put a “dot” after the initials.

Name of Parent/Guardian

Candidates have to enter the name of their father/mother or guardian exactly as in their 10th class or equivalent certificate. Candidates have to write the name of their parent if no name is given in the 10th class certificate.

DOB

Enter the date, month and year of your birth as per English calendar and as recorded in your School / Board (Class – X) / Pre-University examination certificate. Birth field is mandatory. 

Gender

Choose from the drop down menu as appropriate.

Category

Select the appropriate option for your categories from the drop down menu GE, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC or ST.

If no category is specified, you would be considered as falling under the „General‟ category. And, no claim whatsoever shall be entertained thereafter. Category certificate to be verified during admission/ Counseling. If a candidate falls in more than two categories, he / she can select multiple options.

Category once declared cannot be changed at a later date. If a candidate fails to produce the necessary certificate, he/she will be considered as a general category (GE) candidate.

Persons with Disabilities (PwD)

If you are a person with disabilities, i.e., you have SEVERE dyslexia or at least 40% impairment irrespective of the type of disability i.e., locomotor, visual (leprosy-cured candidates are also included in this subcategory), choose YES from the drop down menu. Otherwise choose NO.

Enter Mobile number

Enter 10-digit valid mobile phone number and/or the landline number with STD code. Mobile number will help to “SMS” important messages to the candidates or help the candidates to know their application status.

Enter Email ID

Responsive email ID of yourself or your parents/sisters/relatives that can be used to submit the registration number and password information.

Enter the year of passing

Enter details of the year of passing the qualifying examination.

Nationality

If your nationality is Indian, option indicated for “INDIAN”. If your nationality is not Indian; option indicated for “OTHERS”

Complete Postal Address

Enter the complete postal address to which communication is to be sent. The address must include C/O name, if required, and other details including the PIN CODE.

Name and Place of the School

: Enter the School Name and Place of the School.

Education qualification

Select the option titled “PASSED” if you have already passed 10+2 or any other specified qualifying examination, which makes you eligible for the Entrance Test. Select the option titled “APPEARING” if you are appearing for the examination, which makes you eligible. The title “APPEARING” covers the cases of “APPEARED” candidates also. 

Choice of City of Examination

Select the name of the city from the following: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram. 

Though candidates enter names of two different cities, every attempt will be made to allot the center of their first choice. In extreme cases, candidates may be allotted the center/city of their second choice

Visible Mark of Identification

Candidates should mention visible marks of identification. 

Photograph of the Candidate

The candidate should upload his / her recent color photograph with white background of size as specified. Your face should cover about 75% of the photograph (without attestation)taken on or after 01st January of the admission year. 

Signature

A good quality image of the candidate's signature must be uploaded.

Supporting Documents

The good quality image of supporting documents (GEN-EWS Declaration / OBC-NCL Declaration / SC / ST / PwD / Dyslexia Certificate) must be uploaded.

HSEE 2022 Application form Examination Fee

Candidates must pay the examination fee as applicable is through Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card/Indian Bank challan that will be generated during the process of application. The examination fee for SC, ST, PwD candidates is Rs. 1200/- and for all other candidates it is Rs. 2400/-. Additionally, the service charges of the Bank will be Rs.40/-. 

Payment by Indian Bank e-challan

A bank challan of Indian Bank will be generated during the online process of application. The candidate has to go to any branch of the Indian Bank along with a printed challan and pay the fee. The candidate must verify that the application numbers on both the copies of the challans are the same as that in the application. Check the challan details at the specified places in the application: Challan No.; Branch Code; Transaction No./Journal No.; Date of Payment. Ensure that the seal of the bank branch and the signature of the banker are affixed on the challan in the space provided.

Payment by Net Banking/Credit Card/Debit Card
The candidate has to select the option to pay the application fee and follow the online instructions to complete the payment. After successful payment, the candidate will be able to print the acknowledgement page.

EXAMINATION CITIES FOR HSEE-2022

The entrance examination will be conducted in the following 16 cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Coimbatore, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram. 

  • Additional cities may be added depending upon the pandemic situation and information regarding this will be updated in the website.
  • A candidate has to give two choices for the exam center. Every attempt will be made to allot the center of his/her first choice. 
  • In extreme cases, the candidate may be allotted the center/city of his/her second choice. 
  • If a sufficient number of candidates is not available at any of the above listed cities, the same may be dropped, and the candidates will be allocated to a center of second choice in the other city. 
  • The address of an examination center for a candidate will be mentioned in the Admit Card, which can be generated online.
  • Requests from the candidate for change of city/town allotted to him/her will NOT be entertained under any circumstances.

Important Guidelines for Filling Application Form 

  • Applicants need to abide by certain instructions when filling out the form so that their candidature would not be rejected.
  • Applicants must ensure that all details are properly filled out, as no improvements or revisions are permitted after the final submission of the application form.
  • Applicants must ensure that they meet the required Eligibility Requirements before completing the application form.
  • Ensure that the documents uploaded, such as the photograph, the signature, the left thumbprint, and the handwritten declaration, are as defined.
  • If an applicant is found not to meet the eligibility requirements or is unable to produce the necessary documentation, his application will be canceled.
  • The candidate should keep two identical photographs with him / her used in application form, in reserve which may have to be used for pasting in the Admit Card at the time of Entrance Test / Counseling / Admission, in case of doubt regarding the identity. 
  • Authorities reserve the right to delegate the applicant to any of the Centers other than the one selected by the candidate.
  • Any request for a change in the date, time, and place of the Online Test or Interview would not be entertained by the Examination Body.
  • Online applications, once approved, will not be allowed to be withdrawn and the application fee, once charged, will not be refunded or reserved for any further stage of the recruitment
  • Applicants are advised to read all the guidelines set out in the official notification carefully before continuing to fill out the online form.
