Stage 1 of the CGPSC Civil Judge Selection Process is shortlisting the applicants based on the marks they score in the Prelims exam. The Prelims round comprises two papers: Paper I (General Studies) and Paper II (Aptitude test).

Note: The base cut-off for the Prelims test is 33% for General Category and 23% for Reserved and OBC. Nonetheless, the marks scored by the applicants just in Paper I of the Prelims test will be considered for creating the merit list of the Mains examination.
Stage two of the CGPSC Civil Judge Selection Process is shortlisting the applicants based on his/her marks in the Mains test.

The Main Examination will be a descriptive written exam with the following components:
Framing of issues and writing of Judgment in Civil Cases (Maximum Marks – 40)
Framing of charges and writing of Judgment in Criminal Cases (Maximum Marks – 40)
Translation:-
(i) English to Hindi (Maximum 10 marks)
(ii) Hindi to English(Maximum 10 marks)
Stage three of the CGPSC Civil Judge Selection Process is the Interview. The final merit will be created depending on the candidates' performance in the interview and Mains exam. The Interview Round accounts for 150 marks. Candidates who make it to the merit list are qualified for recruitment.
The final merit list of selected candidates will be created based on total marks acquired in the Mains Exam and the Interview.
