CAT Percentile Predictor 2026: Free Score Calculator From Your Response Sheet

The Supergrads CAT Percentile Predictor reads your CAT 2026 response sheet and calculates your raw score section by section. It then estimates your overall and sectional percentile as a range. Upload the PDF below to see where you are likely to stand among CAT 2026 test-takers and which B-school calls are realistic. The tool is free and built by the SuperGrads CAT team at Supergrads.

Your official percentile comes only from IIM Indore with the CAT 2026 result. Use this estimate to plan your next steps.

Upload Your Response Sheet to the CAT Percentile Predictor Tool

  1. Log in at iimcat.ac.in and open your response sheet.
  2. Click Print and choose Save as PDF.
  3. Upload the PDF here, add your academic details, and click Predict My Percentile.

What the Supergrads CAT Percentile Predictor Shows You

After you upload your response sheet, the CAT percentile predictor tool gives you:

  • Your raw score, overall and for VARC, DILR and QA, worked out from your correct, wrong and unattempted answers.
  • An expected overall percentile range rather than a single number, because slot difficulty and normalisation can move the final result.
  • Expected sectional percentiles, so you can check them against sectional cut-offs.
  • A next-step guide for your percentile band, such as starting interview prep, building a shortlist or planning other exams.

How to Use the CAT Percentile Predictor 2026: Step by Step

  1. Download your response sheet. IIM Indore publishes response sheets and the provisional answer key on iimcat.ac.in after the exam. See our CAT response sheet page for the release date.
  2. Save it as a complete PDF. Use your browser's Print → Save as PDF option. Screenshots or partial pages will not be read correctly.
  3. Upload the PDF in the box above.
  4. Add your profile: your Class 10, Class 12 and graduation percentages, work experience in months, gender and academic background.
  5. Read your result as a range and use the band guide further down this page.

If the Upload Does Not Work

  • Upload fails: save a fresh PDF and rename it using only letters and numbers.
  • Blank or partial result: you probably uploaded a screenshot. Use Print → Save as PDF instead.
  • Score looks wrong: check whether you are comparing with the provisional or the final answer key, because accepted objections can change scores.
  • Slow loading: try another browser or clear your cache.

How the CAT Score Calculator Works Out Your Raw Score

Your raw score is the marks you earn under CAT's marking scheme, before any adjustment between slots. Recent CAT papers have had 68 questions worth 204 marks, split into three sections of 40 minutes each.

CAT marking scheme
Question type Correct Wrong Not attempted
MCQ +3 −1 0
TITA (type in the answer) +3 0 0

Worked Example

Suppose a candidate gets 30 questions right, answers 8 MCQs wrong and gets 3 TITA questions wrong.

  • Marks for correct answers: 30 × 3 = 90
  • Penalty for wrong MCQs: 8 × 1 = 8
  • Penalty for wrong TITA answers: 0
  • Raw score: 90 − 8 = 82

Our CAT score calculator does this for each section straight from your response sheet, so you do not have to count by hand.

Raw Score, Scaled Score and Percentile: What Each One Means

Your CAT scorecard shows a scaled score and a percentile, not your raw score. Knowing the difference helps you read your result correctly.

Raw Score

The raw score is the marks you get under the marking scheme above. It depends partly on how difficult your slot was.

Scaled Score

CAT is held in three slots, each with a different question paper. The IIMs normalise raw scores across slots so that candidates in a harder slot are not disadvantaged. The adjusted figure is your scaled score.

Percentile

Your percentile is the percentage of CAT test-takers whose scaled score is lower than yours. For example, if 1,00,000 candidates took the test and 1,000 scored higher than you, about 99% scored lower, so your percentile would be close to 99. Percentiles are calculated overall and for each section.

How Accurate Is the CAT Percentile Predictor? Why You Get a Range

No predictor can give your exact percentile before the result, because three things stay unknown until IIM Indore publishes it:

  • Slot normalisation. The exact adjustment for each slot is known only after all scores are in.
  • The final answer key. If objections are accepted, raw scores change for everyone.
  • How everyone else performed. A percentile is relative, so the same score can map to different percentiles in different years.

A range such as 97.5–98.5 is more honest and more useful than a single decimal. Make decisions by band, not by the second decimal place.

Section-Wise Percentile: Why VARC, DILR and QA Each Matter

A strong overall percentile is not enough if one section is weak. Most IIMs and many other B-schools set minimum sectional percentiles before they look at the overall figure. Use the sectional estimates from this CAT percentile calculator to check each section against the cut-offs of your target colleges.

  • A low section can block a call, even with a high overall percentile.
  • A balanced performance widens your shortlist, because you clear more sectional cut-offs.
  • Interviewers notice imbalances, so be ready to explain a weak section.

See CAT cut-offs for IIMs for institute-wise sectional and overall cut-offs.

Why the Predictor Asks for Your Class 10, 12 and Work Experience

Your percentile depends only on your CAT performance, but getting a call does not. IIMs shortlist candidates using a composite score that combines CAT with academics, work experience and diversity factors such as gender and academic background. Each institute weights these differently, which is why two candidates with the same percentile can receive different calls. Your profile details help you understand how B-schools may view your application.

This is the difference between a CAT percentile predictor and a CAT college predictor. The first estimates where you rank among test-takers; a CAT college predictor also weighs your profile to suggest which B-schools may shortlist you. Once you have your percentile estimate, check specific options in our list of colleges accepting CAT scores.

What Your Predicted Percentile Means: Next Steps by Band

Next steps by predicted CAT percentile
Predicted percentile What it usually means What to do now
99+ Calls from top IIMs are possible if your sectionals and profile also fit Start WAT-PI preparation now: your story, resume and current affairs
97–99 Strong chance at many top B-schools; IIM calls depend on profile and sectionals Begin interview prep and build a shortlist matched to your profile
95–97 Good options are open; profile and sectionals matter more Prepare for interviews and keep strong backup colleges
90–95 Calls from several reputed B-schools are possible; IIM calls are selective Apply widely and consider other exams this season
Below 90 Fewer calls from the most competitive schools, but good options still exist Decide your goal: target suitable colleges or plan a stronger reattempt

  • Unlike a basic CAT percentile calculator, it reads your actual response sheet, so you do not have to estimate attempts or type in a score.
  • It shows sectional estimates, not just one overall number.
  • It considers your profile, so you can see why calls differ at the same percentile.
  • It is reviewed by SuperGrads CAT faculty, who also publish our slot-wise CAT exam analysis.
  • It is completely free.
